City Celebrates Neighborhood Champions for their Excellence, Leadership and Impact

Winners Announced for 2026 Neighborhood Awards

Engaged, collaborative neighborhoods are essential to community success, and the excellent work of neighborhood champions in Tallahassee to further enhance and enrich their communities was honored this week at the City of Tallahassee’s annual Neighborhood Awards.

The call for nominees yielded applications that shone a light on neighborhood champions who are willing to lead, serve, advocate, collaborate and connect. They take great care of and pride in their neighbors, making Tallahassee an even better place to call home.

Residents representing more than 15 neighborhoods attended the Oct. 1 event to learn who would take home the coveted honors.

Winners of the 2026 Neighborhood Awards included the Jake Gaither Neighborhood Association for Neighborhood of the Year and its social programs, Griffin Heights Neighborhood Association for its physical revitalization efforts and SummerBrooke Property Owners Association for its neighborhood communication endeavors.

Also recognized during the ceremony were Dr. Marsha Turner, president of the Old Town Neighborhood Association, for her neighborliness and John Baker, retired manager of the City’s Neighborhood Affairs Division, for his neighborhood advocacy.
